4/20 Trippin' with David Arquette

A little bit of stardust fell on the CST yesterday - as actor/director David Arquette came over to help promote his new film "The Tripper", which opened last night.

Arquette and his entourage (including actor/brother Richmond Arquette and "Punisher" actor Thomas Jane) dropped in for an afternoon meet/greet. They arrived at 2:30 and stayed for almost 2 hours, talking to a few fans - and later - shooting pool and grabbing a few beers at the Clinton Street Pub next door.

They were a very personable bunch - and made time to talk with everyone who showed. Had an enjoyable chat with Thomas Jane (who aside from his "Punisher" gig - starred in the monster shark flick "Deep Blue Sea" - which I love). Robot got pass along some his art to David - and in return received (of all things) a shot glass from the White House.

Good times had by all...

Rumor has it, they had such a good time at the bar (and elsewhere) in Portland, that they ended up not making it to their Seattle screening...

Filmed by Bike Kicks Ass

Major league home run by the biking community this weekend!

The Filmed By Bike festival returned to the CST for three days of completely sold out shows - blowing the doors off of last year - and establishing itself as an annual fixture.

Grindhouse Grist

The coming of the Tarantino/Rodriguez tribute flick "Grindhouse" has been the subject of some discussion at the CST. We've been trying to snag a print to show, but - as usual - got the high hand from the distributor.

Regal gets the first taste, then we get the leftovers. Typical.

In response to this rejection, Seth took our grindhouse plight to the Hollywood press - and got Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood Daily to give us a little love. An unexpected highlight of this little media hit, was a blog comment by none other than the great exploitation director Jack Hill (Foxy Brown, Coffy, The Big Doll House) - who agreed that we should do a Pam Grier double feature instead (see CST BBQ!!! for his post).

Things continue to kick along over here.....Black Snake Moan is reeling 'em in while Long Gone John is finding its audience....

Also, we were able to wrangle a return of Jodorosky's amazing and psychedelic "The Holy Mountain". Don't miss it this time around, folks.....there is absolutely nothing like it on the big screen!
